Tips for getting the best Hilton Head vacation rental experience:
Getting the best rental home value:
- The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Summer is the most expensive season in Hilton Head. To get the largest vacation home within budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Hilton Head attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have coupons for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Selecting and booking a perfectvacation home:
- Select your vacation dates and spending budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. 2 Bed\/2 Bath Villa Centrally Located Near Coligny Beach, Rooftop Pool and Spa has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property management company before booking your rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out which bed configuration is optimal for your group.
- Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
- Visiting for a single event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Some things to know before you go:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of problems.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Document any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if damages are assessed.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take video of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a fantastic stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
