Tricks and tips to get the best vacation property experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Summer is high season in the Hilton Head area. To get the best value, consider changing your family's Hilton Head trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Often, property management companies supply Hilton Head area visitor guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting and booking your Hilton Head vacation home:
- Choose your vacation week and budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. An Inspired Renovation Perfect for Your Next Family Getaway! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before you book the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's a particular Hilton Head beach you long to visit, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- If your family is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.
Additional considerations:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make sure that damages aren't linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the property manager immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific resource to find the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- At departure, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a wonderful time? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
