Our top Rental home booking tips and tricks:
Sticking to your budget:
- Booking in the Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers frequently offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Choosing and booking the rightrental home:
- Select a group leader, select your vacation week, and select a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Beautifully remodeled villa w\/ WiFi, inviting porch & balconies - walk to beach has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before booking the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what is optimal for your vacation group.
- Is your group looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
More tips for your visit:
- Store the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
- To make sure no damages are attributed to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. Get in touch with the property manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your life at home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
- Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a fantastic stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
