Vacation rental home tips:
Cost saving strategies:
- In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Reserve your vacation home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Many management companies supply Hilton Head area visitor guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to choose the best rental home in Hilton Head:
- Choose your vacation dates and max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Palmetto Dunes villa with patio, shared pool, tennis & golf - dogs OK has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rentals search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or costs applied to your contract.
- If there's a certain Hilton Head beach you crave, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
More considerations:
- We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. Get in touch with the rental manager right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a wonderful stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
