Tricks and tips to get the best rental experience:
When to visit Hilton Head & When to reserve a rental home:
- Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties.
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Property managers sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property managers often offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitors guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Choosing the best rental home in Hilton Head:
- Choose your vacation dates and max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Bright and sunny villa overlooking the Fazio Golf course- pet friendly has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before you reserve the rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Visiting for a single event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
Additional considerations:
- Get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your . We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the rental manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many concerns.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental while you're out. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
