Tricks and tips to get the perfect vacation rental experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are high season in Hilton Head. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Hilton Head area visitors guide magazines which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Make a plan and pick yourrental:

  • Start by selecting your a vacation week and a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Updated Condo with Lagoon Views, Shared Pool, Hot Tub & WiFI - Near Beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible online. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before booking the home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out which bed configuration is best for your vacation family.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or charges might be applied to your invoice.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .

Have a great stay:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Upon arrival, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to compel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
