Tricks and tips to get the very best Hilton Head rental experience:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- The sooner you can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Hilton Head. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have discounts for nearby shops and restaurants.
How to choose and book the right Hilton Head vacation home:
- To start, have your group commit to a vacation week and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Spectacular Harbourfront Villa completely renovated located in Shelter Cove has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before you book your home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges may be applied to your invoice.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking
Have a wonderful stay:
- Store the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect your property!
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. Contact the rental manager right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a excellent vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
