Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
How to get the best rental value:
- The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- To get the best value, try changing your family's Hilton Head trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Often, management companies supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning and picking yourvacation home:
- Choose your vacation dates and max budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Lovely Two Bedroom Condominium with Ocean Views! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available online. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before booking the property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly rental. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's an individual Hilton Head attraction you are enamored with, keep an eye out for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
Additional considerations:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your . Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
- To make certain that damages aren't linked to your stay, note any problem areas during check in. Speak to the property manager immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to stimulate new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
