Tips and Tricks to get the very best vacation rental experience:
When to visit Hilton Head & When to reserve a Hilton Head rental home:
- Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a good way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- In the Hilton Head area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Select your dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Roomy Villa with WiFi, Pool, & Hot Tub - Steps from the Ocean has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking pages. If not, contact the property management company before you book the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
- Visiting for a single event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Get specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
Know before you go:
- Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make certain damages aren't attributed to your stay, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the property manager immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of problems.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a wonderful time? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
