Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Hilton Head rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To get the best value, try changing your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers typically offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area travel guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to pick the best rental home:
- Start by selecting the best vacation week and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Happy Place Gated ResortBldg.1,First floor, pool, deli\/gift shop, bar has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- To make sure that damages are not linked to your family's visit, note any problem areas upon check in. text the property manager immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of problems.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
- Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a great vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
