Tips to get the optimal Hilton Head rental experience:
When to visit Hilton Head & When to reserve a rental home:
- Summer is high season in the Hilton Head area. To book the most suitable rental home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Hilton Head attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Often, management companies supply Hilton Head area travel guide magazines that include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Select a group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Large Six Bedroom Custom-Built Home with Private Pool! has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before reserving the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- If there's an individual Hilton Head destination you are crazy about, browse rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a great stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
