Strategies to get the perfect Hilton Head rental experience:
Getting the most from your budget:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are high season in Hilton Head. To get the best vacation home within budget, we recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers often offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Many management companies supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines which include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to choose the perfect rental in Hilton Head:
- Select a group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. High-end home located on the 16th hole of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Course. has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available online. If not, email or call the property owner before you book your rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If your group is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's an individual Hilton Head attraction you simply love, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Tips to have a smooth stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of problems.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Record any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible resource to find the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to drive new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your review find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
