How to book the best Hilton Head rental experience:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To book the most suitable rental within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Some owners offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, property management companies supply Hilton Head area travel guides which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning and choosing the right Hilton Head vacation home:
- Start by having your family select trip dates and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. High-end home located on the 16th hole of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Course. has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rentals search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the host before reserving the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what is suitable for your family.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Document any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of issues.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
- Re-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to drive new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
