Our top Hilton Head vacation rental home tips and tricks:
Finding your perfect rental home:
- The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Summer is high season in Hilton Head. To get the most suitable rental for your budget, we recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at Hilton Head restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have coupons for local accommodations and attractions.
How to select the best vacation home in the Hilton Head area:
- Begin by selecting the best vacation week and a budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. 4 bedroom\/4.5 bathroom home with private pool, screened in porch, golf views has 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before you book the home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More considerations for your visit:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let crooks ruin your vacation.
- Document any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute arises.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on great ratings to propel new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
