Vacation rental home tips:

When to visit & When to book:

  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer time is high season in Hilton Head. Booking your Hilton Head vacation rental in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers usually offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • First and foremost, have your group decide on vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. HHR - Beach Villa (Heated Indoor Pool & Hot Tub) has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the host before booking the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what configuration is optimal for your group.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property managers charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's a particular Hilton Head destination you crave, browse rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .

More tips for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of issues.
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Document any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on great ratings to drive more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
