Tricks and tips to get the perfect vacation rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Book your Hilton Head vacation home in Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Some property management companies offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Start by choosing potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Great Family Layout! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before you book your rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is best for your vacation.
- If your group is bringing pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly property. Get details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
Have a fantastic stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- To make certain that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the host immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a excellent stay? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
