Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Hilton Head rental home experience:
Money saving strategies:
- In the Hilton Head area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- To find the best value, try changing your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitors guides which will include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning and picking a perfect Hilton Head rental:
- Choose your vacation week and max budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Luxurious 5th floor One of a Kind Oceanfront Penthouse! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before reserving the home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your vacation group.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or charges applied to your contract.
- If there's a specific Hilton Head beach you are crazy about, search for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Add the host's contact information to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of issues.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- At Check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a terrific vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
