Strategies for getting the best Hilton Head rental home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Hilton Head. Reserve your vacation in Fall or Spring months to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- In the Hilton Head area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Often, rental management companies supply Hilton Head area visitors guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Filter your search:
- Choose vacation dates and budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Golf course and lagoon views! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rentals search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking websites. If not, contact the property owner before you book the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what is best for your vacation.
- Is your group looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
- Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to compel more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
