Tips and Tricks for getting the best Hilton Head vacation rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Booking your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in the Hilton Head area. To book the largest vacation home within your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Hilton Head restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Hilton Head area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
How to choose the best rental home:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Family-Friendly Condo with WiFi, Pool, Hot Tub, & Beach Access has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head vacation rental search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before booking your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what is best for your vacation.
- Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.
- If there's an individual Hilton Head beach you are crazy about, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would at home.
- To make certain that no damages are linked to your family's stay, note any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the property manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on good reviews to compel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
