How to find the best vacation property experience:
Getting the most from your rental home budget:
- June, July, and August are high season in Hilton Head. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitors guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Finding the perfect vacation rental in Hilton Head:
- Begin by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Family-Friendly Condo w\/Free WiFi, Covered Porch, Washer\/Dryer, and Shared Pool has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. If not, call the host before you reserve your rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
During your stay:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make sure damages are not attributed to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. Speak to the property manager right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect your property!
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
