Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Hilton Head rental experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Hilton Head. Book your rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have coupons for nearby accommodations and attractions.
How to choose and book the right Hilton Head vacation home:
- To start, have your family select date ranges and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Cozy 2 Bedroom King Beds\/2 Bathroom Townhouse with Sunny Golf Views Sleeps 4 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the host before booking the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
Have a great stay:
- Get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- To make certain that damages are not linked to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the host right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your life at home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected everything. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a excellent stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
