Tips to get the very best Hilton Head rental experience:
Getting the best value:
- Summer months are high season in Hilton Head. Booking your vacation home in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on local tours, shops, and attractions.
How to select the perfect vacation rental:
- Begin by choosing your the best vacation week and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. 2 bed\/3 bath villa, spacious and updated townhouse with view of the pool has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property manager before you book the vacation home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is best for your vacation.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges might be applied to your agreement.
Advice for a terrific stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
- To make sure no damages are linked to your stay, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the rental manager right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a terrific stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
