Tips to get the optimal vacation rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- In the Hilton Head area, The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitor guides which include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Unique condo w\/ bay view, balcony & spiral staircase - great location has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before booking the home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a particular Hilton Head destination you are crazy about, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
More tips for your visit:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Note any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your life at home. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
