• June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To book the best rental home within your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at Hilton Head restaurants, beaches, and activities.
• In the Hilton Head area, The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
• Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
• Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.

If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before you reserve your rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds.
• If there's a certain Hilton Head beach you are enamored with, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
• Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.

• Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
• Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
• Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
• Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
• Did your group have a fantastic stay? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
