Booking the best vacation rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- In the Hilton Head area, The sooner your group can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Summer is the most expensive season in the Hilton Head area. To book the best vacation home within budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at Hilton Head restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, management companies supply Hilton Head area travel guides which often include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Make a plan and choose the bestvacation home:
- Select your dates and budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Second-floor condo in beachfront complex with pools, hot tub, tennis & gym has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before booking your home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
Have a fantastic stay:
- Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many concerns.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Record any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
