Booking the best Hilton Head rental experience:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Selecting and booking a perfectvacation home:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and choose a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Second-floor condo in beachfront complex with pools, tennis & gym has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before you book the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what is optimal for your vacation group.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Put the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. text the rental manager immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a terrific time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
