How to get the best Hilton Head rental experience:

Finding the best rental value:

  • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Book your vacation in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides have discounts for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Use filters to narrow your rental search:

  • First and foremost, have your family agree to date ranges and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Second-floor condo in beachfront complex with pools, hot tub, tennis & gym has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rental home search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is often available online. If they are not listed, email the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking

  • Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
  • During check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a excellent vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews.
