Hilton Head rental home booking tips:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Summer time is high season in Hilton Head. Book your rental property in the Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Select a group lead, select your dates, and select a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Luxury Two Bedroom villa at Marriott's SurfWatch- Book Now! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually available online. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before booking your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
More considerations:
- Get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of issues.
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- To make certain no damages are attributed to your stay, record any problem areas during check in. Speak to the host right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peace. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on great ratings to inspire new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
