Vacation rental tips and tricks:
Cost saving strategies:
- Book your Hilton Head rental in the Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines contain coupons for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Finding the perfect vacation rental in Hilton Head:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and select a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. 2 bedroom\/3 bathroom townhouse style villa in Palmetto Dunes with lagoon view has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property manager before you reserve your home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Does your group require unique amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your family is traveling with pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Request information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
More tips for your visit:
- Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- During arrival, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a terrific time? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
