Finding the best Hilton Head vacation rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Property management companies sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Narrow your Search:
- Start by selecting the best vacation week and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Stunning Oceanfront Retreat. Steps to the sand and Coligny! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before you book the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what configuration is suitable for your family.
- If there's a certain Hilton Head beach you crave, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is bringing pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Request details on breed, size, and type requirements. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Add the host's phone number to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Note any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a great resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected everything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a excellent vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
