Strategies to get the perfect Hilton Head vacation property experience:
Getting the best rental value:
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Summer time is high season in Hilton Head. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is a great way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Some owners offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitors guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to choose the perfect vacation home:
- Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Bright, Family-Friendly Condo w\/Free WiFi, Private W\/D, Balcony, and Shared Pool has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property management company before booking the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
Some things to know before you go:
- Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your visit, note any problem areas upon check in. message the property manager immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a fantastic stay? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
