Strategies to get the best Hilton Head vacation property experience:
Finding your best deal:
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Booking your Hilton Head vacation rental in Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer rate reductions for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers often offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have coupons for nearby shops and restaurants.
Planning, selecting, and booking yourrental:
- Start by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Oceanfront villa with WiFi, full kitchen, pool, & hot tub - beach nearby has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before booking the vacation home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If there's a certain Hilton Head destination you simply love, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
- If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your stay, note any problem areas upon check in. message the host right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on good ratings to stimulate more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
