Booking the best Hilton Head rental experience:
Getting the best value:
- In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Summer time is high season in the Hilton Head area. Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers often offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines contain deals for local tours and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Choose a group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Oceanfront villa with WiFi, full kitchen, pool, & hot tub - beach nearby has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before you book your home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is best for your group.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or may be applied to your contract.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of issues.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect your property!
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the host immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a fantastic time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
