Hilton Head rental booking tips:
When to visit Hilton Head & When to reserve a Hilton Head rental home:
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Hilton Head. To get the best value, try shifting your family's Hilton Head trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain coupons for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Planning, picking, and booking the rightrental home:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Updated studio with water views, easy beach access, washer\/dryer & balcony has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available online. If not, reach out to the property manager before you book the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
- Are you visiting for a single event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
Considerations for your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Upon arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Just before checking out, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a fantastic time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
