Tricks and tips to get the best rental experience:
Sticking to your budget:
- To find the best value, consider shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- In the Hilton Head area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Finding the best vacation home in the Hilton Head area:
- Select vacation dates and budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Panoramic view of the George Fazio Golf Course! has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking pages. If not, email or call the property owner before booking your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Does your group require particular amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Make a record of any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peace. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a excellent vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
