Our top Hilton Head vacation rental home tips:
Sticking to your spending budget:
- To find the most suitable rental for your budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Hilton Head attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- In the Hilton Head area, The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Many management companies supply Hilton Head area visitors guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Make a plan and pick the bestrental home:
- Start by selecting vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Breathtaking Ocean Views & Luxurious Beachside Heated Pool! Steps to the Sand has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking pages. If not, call the property owner before booking the vacation property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what is right for your vacation family.
- If there's a particular Hilton Head beach you long to visit, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
Tips for a smooth stay:
- Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the property manager immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a excellent stay? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
