Hilton Head rental home tips and tricks:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- The sooner you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Hilton Head. Book your Hilton Head rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local Hilton Head area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Begin by selecting your trip dates and a budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Updated beach gem with ocean views, pool, hot tub, & tennis - snowbird-friendly has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rental home search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking pages. If not, call the property manager before booking your rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.
- If there's an individual Hilton Head destination you simply love, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are out, just like you would back home.
- To make certain damages are not attributed to your stay, note any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the rental manager right away to relay any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic resource to find the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Just before checking out, take a walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a excellent stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
