Hilton Head vacation rental home tips:
When to visit & When to book:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To get the best value, try changing your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- In the Hilton Head area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property managers often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitor guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Choosing and booking your prefectrental home:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Updated beach gem with ocean views, pool, hot tub, & tennis - snowbird-friendly has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before you book the property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what is optimal for your vacation.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
Advice for a great stay:
- Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
- To make certain that no damages are attributed to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the rental manager right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great source for finding the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property a final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on good ratings to drive new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
