Getting the best vacation property experience:
When to book a Hilton Head rental home & When to go:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitors guides which often include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Begin by choosing a vacation week and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. 507 Barrington Arms ~ 5th Floor Ocean Views from Beautiful 2br Villa! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before reserving your home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what configuration is suitable for your trip.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge additional pet fees.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
Know before you go:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- To make sure that no damages are attributed to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during arrival. Call the rental manager right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a fantastic vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
