When to book & When to go:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Hilton Head area. Book your Hilton Head vacation home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have money saving offers on nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

  • Note any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if damages are assessed.

  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to compel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
