Our top Rental booking tips and tricks:

Cost saving strategies:

  • The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • Summer time is high season in the Hilton Head area. To find the best value, consider shifting your family's Hilton Head vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
  • Some hosts offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain coupons for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Filter your rental search:

  • Begin by selecting your the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Magnificent Two Bedroom Villa Perfect for Families and Groups Alike! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking pages. If not, email or call the host before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is right for your family.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • If there's a particular Hilton Head destination you are crazy about, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .

Know before you go:

  • Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of issues.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • During check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on good reviews to propel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
