Tips to get the perfect Hilton Head rental experience:

Finding the best rental value:

  • The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Booking your vacation home in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Booking websites often offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain deals for local accommodations and attractions.

How to choose the perfect vacation home in Hilton Head:

  • Begin by choosing your vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration you need. Stylish Home w\/ Private Deck, Shared Pool, and access to Dining and Shopping has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property owner before reserving the rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs could be applied to your contract.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.

Tips for your stay:

  • Add the host's contact information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you are out. Protect your property!
  • Document any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are assessed.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a excellent vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
