Tips to get the optimal rental experience:
Find your perfect rental home:
- The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your vacation property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Hilton Head area. To get the largest rental home within your budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Hilton Head restaurants, tours, and activities.
- Some property managers offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area travel guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to select the best vacation home:
- Start by having your family decide on a vacation week and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Family-friendly condo near the beach with balcony, central AC, & shared pool has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available online. Otherwise, call the property manager before booking the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs may be applied to your contract.
- If there's a certain Hilton Head destination you crave, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, note any problem areas upon check in. text the rental manager right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Upon check-out, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good reviews to propel more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
