Tricks and tips to get the very best Hilton Head vacation property experience:

Finding the best value:

  • Summer time is high season in Hilton Head. To book the best rental within budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants.
  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Booking websites typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain coupons for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Make a plan and choose the rightrental:

  • Begin by selecting your a vacation week and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Amazing & newly updated three bedroom \/ three bath villa steps to the ocean! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available online. If not, email the property management company before you book your home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what configuration is best for your vacation group.
  • If there's a specific Hilton Head destination you are enamored with, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.

Tips for a great stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • During check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a fantastic stay? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
