Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Hilton Head rental home experience:
Get the best rental home value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Hilton Head area. To get the best value, change your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great weather, , and reduced traffic.
- The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain discounts for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Selecting the best vacation home in Hilton Head:
- To start, have your group commit to date ranges and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Spacious Getaway Featuring Shared Pool & Tennis Court + Free WiFi, AC, W\/D has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before you book the rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or could be applied to your contract.
During your stay:
- Store the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make sure damages aren't linked to your stay, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the host immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
- Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great time? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
