Tricks and tips for getting the best vacation property experience:
Find your best deal:
- Summertime is high season in Hilton Head. To get the most suitable rental home within budget, we recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitor guides which often include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Select dates and budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Hilton Head villa conveniently located just a short walk to the beach. has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before you book your rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what is best for your trip.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Make a record of any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a great vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
