Hilton Head rental booking tips and tricks:
When to book a Hilton Head rental home & When to go:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Reserve your Hilton Head vacation home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area travel guides which will include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to select the best vacation home in the Hilton Head area:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your dates, and select a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Relaxing villa with pool, hot tub & tennis - partial ocean view has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before booking the property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is best for your vacation group.
- If your family is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
Additional considerations:
- We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of difficulties.
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, note any problem areas during check in. Contact the property manager immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to compel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
