Strategies to get the perfect Hilton Head vacation rental experience:

Sticking to your rental budget:

  • Summertime is high season in the Hilton Head area. Booking in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Many property management companies supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Finding the best rental in the Hilton Head area:

  • Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Oceanfront villa with partial ocean views, shared pool & beach access has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before you reserve your home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
  • If there's a certain Hilton Head beach you are enamored with, browse homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.

Tips to have a terrific stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your . Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, note any problem areas upon check in. Call the property manager immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
  • Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a great time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
