Tricks and tips to get the best Hilton Head rental experience:
Find your perfect rental:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Hilton Head area. Reserve your Hilton Head rental in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have money saving offers on local tours and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- To start, have your group commit to a vacation week and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Beach access condo with deck, pool, washer\/dryer, and AC - snowbird-friendly has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the host before booking the home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge additional pet fees.
Additional considerations:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- To make sure no damages are linked to your stay, record any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the host right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many concerns.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would back home.
- On check-out day, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on great ratings to stimulate future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
