Tricks and tips to get the best Hilton Head rental experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • In the Hilton Head area, The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Summertime is high season in Hilton Head. Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is an excellent way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property managers often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Many rental management companies supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Selecting and booking a perfect Hilton Head vacation home:

  • Start by selecting vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. North Forest Beach home with a private pool and four primary suites has 7 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible online. If not, email the host before you book your home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is suitable for your trip.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or might be applied to your agreement.
  • Visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of issues.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
  • To make sure damages are not linked to your visit, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the rental manager immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a terrific time? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
