Booking the best vacation home experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Hilton Head. To find the best vacation home within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Hilton Head restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies supply Hilton Head area travel guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Narrow your rental Search:
- First, have your family select trip dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Nicely Decorated One Bedroom Ocean View Windsor Place Condominium! has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available online. Otherwise, call the property management company before you book the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what is best for your trip.
- If there's a specific Hilton Head destination you are crazy about, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
- Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
Know before you go:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if damages are assessed.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a fantastic time? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
