Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Hilton Head vacation rental experience:
Getting the best rental value:
- To find the largest rental home within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Hilton Head restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Start by having your group decide on date ranges and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. A Traveler's Dream! New Hilton Head Beach & Tennis C141 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rental home search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before booking the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or charges may be applied to your invoice.
Know before you go:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make sure damages aren't linked to your stay, note any problem areas during arrival. text the property manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of issues.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental while you're away. Protect your property!
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on great feedback to propel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
