Getting the best rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Summer months are high season in the Hilton Head area. To get the best value, change your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Many property management companies supply Hilton Head area travel guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to select the perfect rental in Hilton Head:

  • First, have your family choose trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Snowbird-friendly studio condo near beach with tennis, pickleball, & water views has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible online. Otherwise, call the property management company before you book the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Does your group require particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Be sure you get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of issues.
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Upon arrival, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to stimulate future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
