Vacation rental booking tips:

Money saving strategies:

  • In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Hilton Head area. To book the most suitable vacation home within your budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
  • Some property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
  • Booking websites usually offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Often, property management companies supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines which often include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Make a plan and pick the best Hilton Head rental home:

  • Start by selecting the best vacation week and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Large Three Bedroom Villa Overlooking the George Fazio Golf Course! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the host before booking the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is optimal for your family.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.
  • Does your group require particular amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.

More considerations:

  • We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. Call the host right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to compel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
