Tricks and tips to get the perfect rental home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is high season in Hilton Head. Reserve your Hilton Head vacation home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides contain deals for local tours and attractions.

Planning, selecting, and booking a perfectvacation home:

  • Choose dates and max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. Large four Bedroom Four Bathroom Home on Robert Trent Jones Golf Course! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the host before reserving the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or might be applied to your contract.
  • Does your family require particular amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.

More tips for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • To make certain that damages aren't linked to your visit, record any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the rental manager immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on great ratings to inspire more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
